Beatings for those celebrating Valentine's Day in India
Hindu extremists aren’t so eager to embrace Valentine’s Day. They have threatened to attack Indian couples who attempt to celebrate this holiday claiming it encourages sexual misdemeanors.

Siri Ram Sena militants, who claim to be custodians of Indian culture, said the day is un-Indian. This threat comes after these activists stormed into the Amnesia Pub at Mangalore and dragged out and beat up women they blamed of acting obscenely and ‘going astray’.
"If people celebrate the day despite our warning, then we will definitely attack them," said one of the activists Gangadhar Kulkarni. Group’s founder, Pramod Mutalik also added that they will not allow V day celebrations of any kind.
A lot of Hindu radical groups don’t condone what they call corrosive influence of Western culture on India. Open display of affection even in Bollywood films has been objected. Just recently, a couple was picked up by police for kissing near a railway station. Charges against them were dismissed though.
It seems one other thing that has been under threat in India for quite a while besides Valentine’s Day, is the kiss. About two years ago, Richard Gere had a riot act read to him when he planted kisses on actress Shilpa Shetty. Protestors burnt effigies of Gere and others shouted slogans demanding the death of Shetty. In the 90s there was a public outrage after Nelson Mandela kissed actress Shabana Azmi on his visit to India.
Much as India is a traditionally conservative society which is against ‘westoxication’, what is so wrong with a decent display of affection like kissing or a couple's celebration of the love they feel for each other on Valentines Day? Even for those of us who don't believe in V day, aren't you just glad you have the liberty of celebrating it?
Have a lovely V day!

There were two neighbors ; A poor Christian , who prayed daily & an Atheist who was Rich . The poorman asked God why the Atheist had everything and he had nothing . God spoke Loudly " It is because your neighbor does not bother me / Everyday "

Oh , were you talking to me ? My birthday will be Friday and I shall be 61 years old and not attempting to change others of which I have totally no control . Am Very Very Proud of how I have carried myself in an Honest life . Be sure to take two Bibles in case you need paper to start a fire to cook with . I had to use old newspapers , fallen tree limbs from the storm to cook for us for 11 days with no power last September . I may be old and disabled , alas I am not dead / Yet .

P.S. I am wishing that I have been able to inform you of problems closer to home . Which I feel at the present time need Our attension more seriously . Spend your money as you see wisely to travel and minister to others , as we try to find enough money on a tight budget to be able to survive . And I was not in fear of arrest as I did not shoot this self proclaimed Christian who for many years has continued his way of Ministry in terriorizing me .

I have been hopelessly looking for assistance to return it to Walmart for replacement , because it was Guaranteed for one year and only lasted 5 months . The bi-polar neighbor on the next corner got mad at a longtime friend of his , whose auto that broken down and he had to leave it parked on my neighbors property . So while Drunk and Drugged up the bi-polar child [ 50 something years old ] broke all of the windows out of his friends auto before he was able to repair and drive it home . I being a victim of a Massive heart attack , left my front door unlocked in case I needed an ambulance in the middle of the night . Until I met a friend who continually stole , vandelized , terriorized and threatened my Life . Please tell me more about your trip to help others , when you Safely return home .

Are all of you really glad you live in America??? does it make you feel better when you know you're safe at home in your nice air-conditioned comfy chair with some food at your disposel? You have the right to believe in whatever you want to believe and know full well that you wont be beatin or arrested for what you think is true.... I think instead of having your own opinions of someone putting their "dirty hands on your clean shirt" we should be more informed about what's going on in other countries and see what it is WE can do to help. Pray for those who face persecution that they can hold on to to what's dear to them. Pray for their persicutors that the Lord could touch them and open their eyes to a world of glory and love beyond what we can imagine! There are oh so many pictures and news articles i've seen about those who face persecution, and it kills me that i'm here... wondering if i should go to the beach or hang out with my friends... I urge you to pray for those throughout the world who's only night on the town are those who secretly sneak out in the middle of the night to find a prayer group and rejoice to their Father in heaven.... those who have nothing but, have it all. I'm not trying to be little any of you who post your own comment about the Valentines day beatings our brothers and sisters receive when they walk down the street... instead i will just pray for you that you live a joyice life in your comfy air-conditioned home eating your warm meal... praying that each and everyone of you have received the Lord Jesus Christ into your life. all i ask in return is that you pray for me for what God has instore for me when i go and minister to those who get beaten for what they believe in...

You'd be surprised to learn what closed minds can do in the name of religion or culture.

we as americans take a lot of things for granted. Until you visit another country such as south korea or Africa you never have any idea how much we take for granted. Its nice to know that i can kiss someone and not worried about being stone to dealth for it.

Yes, I'm glad in the country we now can celebrate certain liberties such as the right to love anyone we chose and certain holidays. Given the fact, this is Black History month for those of African American descent, being in love with someone of European/white, whether it was on Valentine's Day, 4th of July or any other day was not acceptable nearly 45 years ago in this country. At that point in time, there were American citizens whom actually believed racism was God's natural order. So, this article doesn't surprise me. Although I am a Christian, alot of hate and crime has been committed in the name of god and religion by misguided individuals. I think the moral of this story is to understand Change comes with a price and change comes with pain. If you are able to endure the process of change, you will always come out on top in the long run. As a nation, we Americans have recently experienced that joy after years of unrest. I think we are in a good place as nation to say we have come a long way... baby... Happy Valentine's Day...

It is a case of turning the other cheek or slapping the Snot out of the one who approaches you in anger . Reach out and touch someone , Give before you receive allow them to reap their rewards / Stand up for what you think is Right / Remember to take their knees out First , then while they bend in pain make sure they do not try this again next year . Work on some attitude ajustment . Enjoy Saturday the way you see fit . Happy Valentines day

To be completely honest about the subject,I agree with those who dished out the A--whuppins,because I'm ANTI-VALENTINE'S DAY myself,so I'm all for what happened(LoL!).I just don't get it,what's the point in celebrating it...DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT SAYING IT.
