Mixed Marriages
Kiante & Zachary -
Jackson, Mississippi, United States
Married January 2019
This “Kidnapping” Was No Crime
With the clever vino-themed username “KianteLkWine,” Kiante explained how to pronounce her name and perhaps said something about her interests. “I’d never online dated,” she admits. “I was here to try something different.”
The man she would meet and marry, Zachary, was new to Internet personals too. “I didn’t have much confidence in it,” he confesses. And yet, just three weeks after posting his own profile, he spotted Kiante’s and they connected. She’d only been with us three months.
“Zack reached out first with an instant message,” Kiante recalls. “The mystery” sparked her interest in him, she says with a laugh. “He didn’t have much on his profile!”
So of all the single ladies on our site, why did he choose Kiante to contact? “She had a lot that I thought we would have in common,” explains Zachary. Maybe wine was one of them? In any event, they got to chatting and bonding, real quick.
It wasn’t long before the duo decided to get on with it and meet in the real world. Zachary was compelled to ask Kiante out. “I felt a strong connection to her and just knew that I had to meet her,” he says. Kiante says she acquiesced “because I felt a strong chemistry since the first message [he sent].”
“We met at the hotel he was staying at, had dinner and a movie,” reports Kiante. Zachary gives us specifics: “Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar” and “Neighbors 2,” starring Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne. Kiante’s impression of Zachary was positive. “He was handsome,” she says. “I felt a connection immediately.” Her date was dazzled by her. “I was kinda in shock,” Zachary tells us. “She’s way more beautiful in real life!”
We always ask what, if anything, caught these singles off guard about each other. What surprised Kiante about their first date was that “it felt like we’d known each other for years.” Zachary agrees with that assessment. “There was absolutely no awkward silence whatsoever,” he observes.
You already know the end of this story – they got hitched – but we like to know how a couple goes from strangers to life partners. With that in mind, we asked Kiante and Zachary what they came to appreciate about each other that their dating profiles didn’t even hint at. “Everything, because his profile was very mysterious,” answers Kiante. But her profile was the exact opposite of his. “She pretty much had her whole life’s backstory on there,” laughs Zachary.
The physical distance between them seemed like it might keep them apart romantically, but a big moment came when Zachary tried to bridge that gap. “We were in New Orleans,” Kiante begins, “and he said he had a surprise for me… which was that we ended up at his house.” As Zachary puts it, jokingly, “I basically kidnapped her to come live with me!” He had certainly abducted her heart by this stage of their relationship.
Another big highlight for the happy couple was when Zachary popped the question. Again he surprised Kiante, she informs us. “When I got off the truck from training he was there as soon as I opened the door, out in the middle of nowhere. I didn’t see him before exiting the truck, and there he was, down on one knee! I immediately started crying my eyes out.”
Kiante is overjoyed to have ended her search for someone special. “He is the best thing to ever happen to me,” she says, getting emotional. But Zachary is right there with her. “She is the most amazing woman a man could ask for,” he declares. “I’m happy every second that I’m with her.”
Here is Kiante’s piece of advice for anyone on the hunt for a lifelong love. “Don’t rush it, but when you find that connection, go with it,” she says. “Because, at the end of the day, that just might be your soul mate!”
Zachary has this to say to singles. “Don’t think it’s a waste of time. Go out there! You will find someone special when your time is right.”
The time was right for these two.
